Then ChatGPT suggested something I likely wouldn't have considered on my own: a fully loaded 2023 Mercedes-Benz EQS 580 SUV.
The timing turned out to be perfect. Many traditional Mercedes buyers felt the EQS had too much technology, and the expiration of federal EV tax incentives softened demand. That created an incredible buying opportunity on the used market.
Years ago, I owned a 1999 Mercedes-Benz SL500, and the EQS brought back that same low-to-the-ground feeling in an entirely different way. Its battery pack creates an exceptionally low center of gravity, making this SUV feel remarkably composed. Mercedes hadn’t lost its engineering magic—they had reinvented it.
Once I narrowed my search, ChatGPT helped me evaluate what quickly became the benchmark vehicle: a low-mileage corporate lease return at Walters Mercedes-Benz in Riverside. After searching nationwide, I realized it wasn’t just a good option—it was the right one. It had every feature I wanted, right down to the dark silver color and AMG wheels. As a retired television producer, I enjoy researching major purchases before ever speaking with a salesperson. Once I’ve made a decision, I don’t need to be sold—I simply appreciate professionals who help me execute the plan.

I told him I wanted to complete the entire purchase by email because I didn’t have time for dealership visits or phone calls. He never pushed back. Every email, disclosure, and contract became part of an ongoing conversation with ChatGPT before I replied. AI didn’t make the decisions—it simply helped me understand every step and confirm that everything matched what had been promised.
When the paperwork was finished, Walters asked when I’d like to come to Riverside to pick up the SUV.

Without hesitation, they arranged complimentary flatbed delivery directly to my home. Other than test-driving a similar EQS at a nearby dealership to confirm I liked the platform, I never had to leave my house. At almost the same time the Mercedes arrived, Carvana showed up to pick up my Jeep. It couldn’t have gone smoother.
Financially, it turned out to be one of the smartest purchases I’ve ever made. This SUV originally stickered at $139,665, putting the original owner’s investment at roughly $150,000 after taxes and registration. I purchased it for about $71,000, then sold my Jeep to Carvana for approximately $20,000, bringing my net investment to just over $51,000. To me, that’s exactly how buying a luxury vehicle should work—letting someone else absorb the steepest depreciation while I stepped into the exact car I wanted.
Six months later, I can honestly say this is the best vehicle I’ve ever owned. After adding paint protection film and a tasteful blackout treatment by Wrap It Up LA, I still find myself looking back every time I park it.

What began as a positive experience quickly turned into a frustrating ordeal that has left me hesitant to ever buy a car from Walter’s again.
On the positive side, Joshua Rambow was incredibly informative and patient throughout the process. He didn’t pressure me at all.
However, it turned out that the price quoted to me by Joshua and Chris Alcocer was not the final price I paid. They were not transparent about an additional $1695 charge for Stargard, a theft detection system.
Chris had mentioned that the car came with Sirius, but at the end of the trial period, it would automatically end unless I opted in. In the very next sentence, he also mentioned that Stargard was included and that I could opt in at the end if I wanted. It was my mistake to assume that it was an option or trial. Additionally, I failed to thoroughly review all the documents while signing.
Days later, I reviewed the sales documents and noticed the charge. I emailed Chris and requested that they remove Stargard and refund the money. He informed me that it couldn’t be removed. I then met with Joshua in person, and he confirmed the same. Finally, I spoke to the Sales Manager, David Yi, who promised to discuss the matter with his GM and get back to me in three days. After seven days of persistent follow-up, David informed me that his GM, John Scholz, had stated that there was nothing he could do.
After purchasing the car, I read some reviews for Audi of Riverside and discovered that other buyers had also felt deceived by the dealership regarding Stargard.
The lack of transparency at best and the deception at worst were truly disappointing.
Having purchased over 20 cars in my lifetime, I have never encountered such deceptive practices from a dealer. In contrast, other Audi dealerships clearly display the car’s price and any additional items, such as the Appearance Package, so that customers are fully informed. I informed Audi USA and they said that the GM would reach out to me and it's been a month and no contact...
I purchased a car over the phone with Ant Huynh and the team at Audi Riverside. They made the process very easy, doing everything over the phone and email. They answered all my questions quickly and the car was delivered in excellent condition. Even on his day off, he called me back. I especially appreciated the effort he put in to assure I would get a loaner vehicle while my car was being serviced. I decided to take my R8 to Audi Ontario for an oil change, since it is close to my work. After a couple of days since I picked up my car from your dealership, the low engine oil light has come on. Needless to say, I am very disappointed in the service I have received.
The oil change is WAY overpriced at over $1,200 (in comparison, my oil change last year at Audi North OC was $550.) And that is just for an oil change; no other maintenance items like fluids, etc. For an oil change at that price, it is inexcusable that the technicians did not put enough oil in my R8. An R8 technician once told me that changing the oil in an R8 is comparable to pouring a pint of beer or glass of champagne. If you pour it fast, you get a lot of bubbles; you have to wait for the bubbles to settle, and pour more into the glass. Same with the oil for an R8- you have to let the oil settle, check the level, then add more. The technician at Audi Ontario obviously did not do it correctly.
I checked the final invoice and the labor for the oil change was $900. How many hours does it take for an oil change to warrant $900 in labor charges? I can’t help but feel ripped off.
The only positives were that Dani was nice and had a pleasant personality, and the loaner was clean and in good condition. Unfortunately, that does not make up for all the negatives with Audi Ontario's service department.
Every time that I go to the Audi dealership Im greeted with friendly staff members. This time Titan Hsieh helped me on the service side and was able to fully explain what my car needed ans listened to my concerns.

I bought the car without seeing it in person, Farzy Rashid and Steve Holguin, went way beyond what is expected in helping me make the right decision in my purchase. One note: if you’re selling or trading in your car, go straight to CarMax. The person who evaluates vehicles came off a bit rough(grumpy), which took away from the experience at the end, so we ended up going with CarMax instead (I am sharing this for the benefit of others not to throw shade). I would take off a star for him but everyone else was 5 stars so the good out weighs the bad.
Overall, I’d buy from them again. My Husband is in love with his car. After my Volkswagen GTI, I’m already leaning toward an Audi Q5 next, and I’d go back to this same team.

I worked with Jason Cai on my car purchase at Porsche Riverside. Jason was responsive, friendly, and easy to communicate with throughout the process. I had a lot of questions before coming in, and he helped coordinate the information I needed so I could feel comfortable moving forward.
I also appreciated that Jason was attentive when I pointed things out and tried to help address them. The add-on services process felt rushed (probably on purpose), would have liked time to read over the offerings in advance. Overall I would def go to this dealership again, but a little more aware of their strengths and areas of improvement.

Our service advisor was William Barbaro, extremely friendly and professional. Everyone at this dealership is very courteous. I appreciate the fact that I can obtain a loaner vehicle in order for me to run my errands and this doesn't interrupt my schedule. The waiting area is always clean with tons of snacks available to the customers, (love the Welchs grape juice). We love the video that is taken during the inspection and then sent to us to view, very thorough.

When it came time for numbers, I worked with both Manny and his manager, Pouya. They really were good negotiators yet fair and kind. We were able to meet where we both felt comfortable and before I knew it, I was wiring the money.
Come pick up time, I travelled to location and was greeted kindly by Manny picking me up at ONT (which is only a 5 min drive, in case you too are traveling). At the dealership, same thing, many friendly faces, folks were attentive. The shop is amazingly kept with legacy and modern Porsches (it’s like a museum). I was even given a voucher for the gift store!
Although everything was done via phone and e-forms, Manny wanted to ensure I was good with the car. We went on a test drive and back in office he explained details we’d gone over via call and text. He really took care of me. Even to say, he asked to keep him posted on reaching after my 7 hour journey home and repeated that he came with the car, to always reach out.
This was all a wonderful experience and a beautiful car. I’m glad although Pouya made the offer to deliver it, that I drove it, because as Manny said, the first drive is unforgettable!

I picked up a clean used car this week. Not a Porsche and not the most expensive car. I generally dislike the dealer experience and want to get in and out and enjoy my time off. Sha Peng accommodated with all the info, pics, video, Carfax etc. Credit app was done and approved online. They were all set before I arrived. Drove the car and loved it, signed and got on with my day. There was one tiny issue with the car and it was handled in record time... with smiles 🙂 Thanks guys!

I scheduled a service done recently with the help from the service advisor Jose Rodela. He was very tentative with my request and the whole process was very smooth and professional. He also help schedule an Uber for me to take me to and back from my office while getting the service done so i don't have to waste time sitting around dealership doing nothing. Jose was incredibly helpful. Help me navigate my concerns with my vehicle, and addressed to the tee ALL of my concerns. Didn’t hear any of the typical “couldn’t replicate” to any of my issues raised. Car was immaculately serviced, which is extremely important for this high end line.

I ran into an emergency situation with a flat tire on a Saturday and while the issue could not by solved the same day, service advisor David Barron was able to get everything setup, inform me that the replacement tire was covered under a wheel and tire warranty I had previously purchased and even noted an issue with the windshield gasket and have that addressed under warranty. It was an absolute pleasure working working with such a professional.
They could have taken advantage of my naivety, but instead saved me $1,700 by changing out a battery under warranty on a 2020! Patrick was very honorable in every way. He showed professional concern, courtesy, and compassion. I was treated with value and respect. It’s the best service I’ve experienced from a dealership.

He was able to answer and provide different options that I was not aware of. Ultimately I decided on purchasing and was approved and car ready within 24 hours. I picked up the vehicle within 48 hours of our call. My wife loves her certified Cayenne.
